Could you please provide me with information/guidance about the policies related to dances of faculty members with students?
I am an active member of the latin dance (Bachata and Salsa) community in our city. I attend several regular lessons and other events (dance socials, workshops, etc) every week in such places as the DAYNC Studio, Delaware House, etc. Typically I dance 50% time with my wife and 50% time with other partners, and some of the latter may occasionaly be students. In many cases I do not know whether my partner is a student or not.
I have read the regent's policy definition "A consensual relationship refers to any relationship, either past or present, which is romantic, physically intimate, or sexual in nature, and to which the parties consent or consented." https://www.wisconsin.edu/regents/policies/consensual-relationships/
Bachata dance is very romantic and often physically intimate. Certain styles of Bachata (Sensual, Urban), which we study, include erotic elements. Examples of Bachata Sensual can be seen in the videos below:
Could you please provide me (or direct towards) a relevant legal definition of the "relationship" applicable to RPD 14-8? I assume that one dance is not a relationship, as opposed to dancing with the same partner regularly. At which stage the Policy Document 14-8 prohibition applies?
